Here are the main differences between Compostable peanuts and EPS peanuts.
Compostable peanuts are.......compostable! The easiest way to determine if a packing peanut is compostable is to run it under water. If it dissolves after getting a bit mushy and sticky, boom, compostable!
EPS peanuts (aka (styro)foam peanuts) are NOT compostable! They do NOT degrade under running water and they maintain an electrostatic charge, meaning they stick to everything no matter what!
Recycle your EPS peanuts with me, put your compostable peanuts in your compost!

As with any material we choose to recycle, there are a few rules.

***Take all CLEAN food service foam to a local Publix supermarket!!***
Processing foam DOES cost money! Suprise!
For general residential foam recycling, I don't have a formal fee schedule. I work on a 'willingness to pay' concept. If you drop foam off to me in person or at my drop-off site, I'd ask you to consider what that service is worth to you and pay that amount (but I'm happy to take more ;-).
If you would like me to pick up at your house, depending on where you live and how much foam you have, a general cost would be around $50. I can send you a large bag for your loose foam for $10.
Business processing terms are customized and confidential.
For in person transactions, cash is best but also checks or credit cards are ok.
For remote transactions, the best way is to Venmo me. My name on Venmo is @feedmefoam and the website is www.venmo.com.
Audrey III and I really appreciate any monies you give us!!!
For more context:
The two main costs incurred are fuel and time. Yes, I have to pay insurance and the like as well.
I have no investors to pay beyond myself and as many of you may know or guess, cash flow is the main reason recycling businesses fail.
But, what about ALL that money I make on the sale of solid polystyrene (EPS)?? Well, bottom line is that greasy brown bananas cost more than what I can sell the solid material for.
Please consider sending me some monetary support to help me keep providing this valuable service!!
Would you like to host an EPS (colloquially Styrofoam) collection event??
If yes, let's work out a date and time!!
Your responsibilities:
*Secure a space with good access and egress. Audrey III needs about 8 parking spots to be comfortable.
*Tell all your friends! Don't forget to tell them to take all food service foam to a local Publix.
*Gather at least 2 friends to help on the day of.
*Consider what you are 'willing to pay' to host me. Remember, diesel isn't free.
My responsibilities:
*Work with you!
*Show up and collect and maybe process foam!
*Have fun!!

Feed Me Foam, LLC is a mobile foam recycling platform located near Asheville, NC.

Keeping Styrofoam OUT of our landfills!
Foam Explained
What is Styrofoam?
Styrofoam is Expanded Polystyrene or EPS. Styrofoam is a trademarked name of the Dow Chemical Corporation. Calling EPS Styrofoam is like calling a tissue a Kleenex or an adhesive bandage a Band-Aid. EPS is simply plastic. It is a very useful plastic in that it is very light and can be easily melted into any shape to protects things like our TVs and lamps!
Why should I recycle Styrofoam?
Styrofoam should be recycled because it does not degrade in our landfills.
What is Feed Me Foam?
Feed Me Foam is a mobile EPS, aka Styrofoam processer. Basically, I drive a 16-foot-long box truck with the densifier mounted inside of it to YOU and densify the EPS you would otherwise throw in the trash, on site!
Why choose Feed Me Foam?
To keep EPS/Styrofoam OUT of our landfills where it will stay there for 500 or more years! That's not a typo! Styrofoam which is a type of plastic does NOT degrade or simply go away!
Who should use Feed Me Foam?
Sustainable minded citizens who want to help keep our planet healthy!
Sustainable minded businesses who want to do the same and at a lower cost than paying for trash removal!
Five cubic yards of EPS can be densified into about the size of two shoe boxes!
